Diogo Morgado on "Fama Show" at the "Excuse" Screening

"Fama Show" caught up with Diogo Morgado at the recent screening of his latest short film, "Excuse" at The Famous Fest in Lisbon. Our awesome friend Dina sent us the short but sweet clip, along with the translation posted below.

Diogo on Fama Show for Excuse

Diogo Morgado: I accepted the invitation of Rui Pedro Tendinha [one of the directors of The Famous Fest, who was up on the stage with Diogo.]
We were in Los Angeles and I had just made a short film with Daniela Ruah.....  Suddenly I'm here.  For me, it's like a very strange thing, because I've never had an audience watching something I have directed.
----------------------
I can't wait until more of us audiences get to see what Diogo has directed! :)  As always, a huge thank you to Dina for this!

Diogo on "Fama Show"/"Um Por Todas"

Diogo was recently a guest on SIC's "Fama Show" as part of their new format show "Um Por Todas," where as you will see, he was a great guest and a really good sport.  :)  You can fast forward through the episode below to see Diogo's segments throughout the show. And our truly incredible and generous friend Dina translated ALL of Diogo's parts for us, which can be found right below the video.

"Virados do Avesso" premiere on "Fama Show"

"Virados do Avesso," Diogo's upcoming Portuguese comedy, had its red carpet premiere last week. And even though Diogo is in the US filming his upcoming CW series, "The Messengers," thanks to technology and his "Virados" co-star, Jorge Corrula, Diogo was still able to be "on" the red carpet for the big event.  Dina was kind enough to send us a clip from "Fama Show" about the premiere of "Virados do Avesso," and you can find the translation of Diogo's "appearance" on the red carpet right below the video.  (Note: Diogo's part is at the 1:16 mark.)

"Virados do Avesso" premiere on FAMA SHOW

JORGE CORRULA: (at the 1:16 mark -- holding an iPad with Diogo live on a video call) I have seen absolutely nothing. Just saw the trailer that everyone saw. I hope, above all, it will be a huge success and brings more people to the theaters to see Portuguese films.
CLIP FROM "VIRADOS DO AVESSO": João (Diogo) is freaked out because he woke up with his friend Carlos (Jorge) laying next to him in bed. JOÃO: You’re in my bed ???? I can’t talk to you like this (naked.)  CARLOS: Yeah ... I already got dressed (he's wearing underwear.)
DIOGO: (on the iPad) It was 3 very intense weeks, but with Jorge Corrula, everything went much smoother. Obviously, the chemistry is undeniable.
CLIP FROM "VIRADOS DO AVESSO": João says: “Gay? Who’s gay? Me?” and laughs.
______________

And in typical busy Diogo fashion, "Virados do Avesso" was not the only premiere he attended recently!  This past weekend, he was in St. Louis to attend the US film festival premiere of "Red Butterfly" at the St. Louis International Film Festival, along side some of his co-stars from the film, as well as the movie's writer-director, Jon Alston.

Diogo and his many projects are hard to keep up with for sure, so if you aren't already, make sure to go follow the "Virados do Avesso" Official Facebook Page for all the latest updates on the film, which opens in theaters in Portugal on November 27th.  And for the latest updates on when we will be able to see "Red Butterfly," make sure to follow them on Twitter at @RedButterflyMov and at the Red Butterfly Movie Official Facebook Page.  And as always, I will do my best to keep us all posted, too!  :)

Diogo on "Fama Show" discussing Dreambooks

Diogo was on SIC's "Fama Show" today, discussing the latest ad campaign he is doing with Dreambooks, the photo book company he has been working with since 2009, and who helped create one of the world's largest photo books for "Portugal: Melhor Destino" ("Portugal: The Best Destination."  (You may recall Diogo was an ambassador for this special project, for which he made an AMAZING film about his beloved country, called "Eu sou Portugal" ("I am Portugal.")

Once again, our amazing Dina was kind enough to send a translation of Diogo's latest appearance on "Fama Show," which can be found right below this short but sweet video.

Diogo: It's a campaign for Dreambooks, a brand I have been working with for many years, and with great pride.  It's an online platform that allows people instead of losing their photos in the digital world, they can make their album at home, and receive it in the comfort of their homes.
Diogo: We're doing a a portrayal of the World Cup at home, doing a photograph at home of a group of friends, and will be of that moment of celebration, and maybe some beer, and lupins. [Lupins or Lupini beans are very popular in breweries in Portugal as a snack while drinking beer.]
Cláudia Borges/Host: But it stays there til the end of the day. It is better ... Beer...
Diogo: Go, go. There are people here who need to run (looking at the child/his "co-star" who is running away.) We had help here from Rui.  (To the cameraman, jokingly) You are in the artist's intimate, personal space here, do you understand? That's not cool, okay?
Cláudia: And it's possible we'll catch you like this too?
Diogo: It is possible, with a banana in hand and underwear. It is possible, yes. It's quite possible.
Diogo: We imagine the situations and try to somehow portray the moment. It's nice.
Claudia: What have you been doing here in Portugal? What have you been doing?
Diogo: Sol de Inverno....
Claudia: Yes, because after all ...
Diogo: He is not dead after all ... The dead is alive and well.

Diogo named "Man of the Year" on "Fama Show"

Congratulations to Diogo, who was named "Homem do Ano" ("Man of the Year") on today's episode of "Fama Show."  An honor he rightly deserves, for sure!  :)

And our very own woman of the year Dina, hee, was kind enough to translate this quick but fun interviewfor us, which can be found right below the video.

Diogo on "Fama Show" - Man of The Year (courtesy of SIC/Fama Show)

Iva Lamarão/Host (IL) He is the Man of the Year, Diogo Morgado.....
IL: Named and considered Man of the Year. This year was great ...
DM: It was a good year ... was a very productive year, was a nice year.
IL: You left Portugal and gave yourself to the world, so to speak, with "The Bible" series. Tell us about that first moment.
DM: A project that we were not expecting to have as much exposure and to do so well, and that success was so great, and it is interesting to know that what we do and our passion for what we love to do, reaches so many people. It's strange, on one hand, but on the other hand is highly rewarding.
\IL: You were also invited to be with the famous Oprah.
DM: When the cameras are turned off, what I was able to feel, she (Oprah) is even better, more human even than what is recognized.
IL: You were also on the red carpet for the Emmy Awards.
DM: The entire ceremony, the entire event was spectacular, not only because "The Bible" was one of the nominees, but indeed it is a party that we hear and talk about every year, along with the Golden Globes and the Oscars. To actually be there at that time, was very special to me. It was very interesting.
IL: You were also named Man of the Year by GQ Magazine.
DM: Actually I was very excited when it happened. Internationally, for example, it is a very prestigious award. The first time that GQ (Portugal) gives this award, to have them choose me, was ... I have no words. It was really ... I was very happy.
IL: Congratulations.
DM: Thank you very much.
(And he gives a kiss to the camera.)
____________

Parabéns/congratulations, Diogo.  You are definitely our Man of the Year! And though it has big shoes to fill, I suspect 2014 is going to be an even better year!  Looking forward to it.  :)

Diogo was at the launch party for SIC Caras, SIC's new 24-hour entertainment network that joined the airwaves recently.  Diogo was on the red carpet with his "Sol de Inverno" co-star, Úrsula Corona (whom you may recognize as the woman in the car when "Eduardo" was kidnapped in Mexico and will supposedly be with "Eduardo" upon is return to "Sol de Inverno.")

Diogo discusses "Frozen: O Reino do Gelo" on Fama Show

Diogo was on "Fama Show" today, discussing lending his voice to "Kristoff" in Disney's latest animated film, "Frozen: O Reino do Gelo."  Dina yet again kindly translated these two quick but fun interviews for us, found right beneath the video.  (Fast forward to the 4:10 mark for Diogo's first segment, and then to the 19:00 mark for his second segment, from Disneyland Paris.)

Rita Andrade/Host: (pointing to the poster) This is "Kristoff," a character in the new Disney movie, FROZEN, featuring the voices of Diogo Morgado, Paulo Vintém and many other actors. A true story of delight.
Diogo: He ["Kristoff'] is the guy who sells ice, for work, and suddenly everything around him is frozen. We have a problem ... He embarks on an exciting adventure where many things happen, I cannot tell what because you have to go see.
Rita: And your son? He already knows his father is Kristoff?
Diogo: When we are sitting in the chair seeing the movie FROZEN, I'll say "Daddy is that guy, that guy is daddy," and he will say "Oh Daddy be quiet, I want to watch the movie."
DISNEYLAND PARIS SEGMENT (19:00 mark)
Vanessa Oliveira: Christmas is upon us and, as always, this time is celebrated with great fanfare at Disneyland Paris. The party has begun and the theme this year is the new Disney movie, "Frozen: O Reino do Gelo."
Diogo: For me this movie is like a dream come true, because it is the first time I do the voice of a Disney hero. Look, look who's coming (referring to Mickey Mouse). Yeah!
Diogo: (pointing to Cinderella's Castle) In our wildest dreams of fantasy, princes, princesses and castles, this (castle) tops the list, I mean this is the perfect example of a fantasy castle, right?
Vanessa: And you cannot imagine what will happen here [in the park] tonight.
Diogo: What will happen tonight? Maybe even I know...
Vanessa: No, you don’t.
Diogo: Part of me will be there tonight too, in all the action.
Vanessa: Well ... it will ... but we'll see shortly ...
Diogo: In a little while ... wait ... Until then.
(During the parade they were referring to.)
Diogo: (pointing to "Kristoff" character who is in the parade) I am that guy in FROZEN, Kristoff. He just didn’t say hello because, well, he knows I am the real one.
___________

Disney's "Frozen" opens in US movie theaters on November 27th, and you lucky fans in Portugal can hear Diogo as "Kristoff" in "Frozen: O Reino do Gelo" when it opens in movie theaters there on November 28th.  But!  The rest of us can at least hear Diogo as "Kristoff" in this trailer for "Frozen: O Reino do Gelo."

Diogo on "Fama Show" in Disneyland Paris

Diogo was on "Fama Show" as they were with him during his recent trip to Disneyland Paris.  Dina was kind enough to translate this very cute and fun interview for us (I LOVE Diogo wearing the big Mickey hand LOL) which can be found right below the video.  Fast forward to 17:40 to see Diogo.

Fama Show_Programa do dia_16-11-2013_ by mlubep

Vanessa Oliveira/host (at 17:40 mark): At the opening of the holiday season at Disneyland Paris, Diogo Morgado took us into this world of magic and the result could not have been better.
Diogo: Look at it so beautiful there, it's the Castle of Disneyyyy ...
Vanessa: What a beautiful day we picked.
Diogo: Eh pá. This is very good because it does not seem like we are in winter, does it?
Vanessa: Well ... it's cold ... very cold ...
Diogo: It's magic, the magic of Disney is doing its thing. Makes the dark become a beautiful day.
Vanessa: How is Christmas for you?
Diogo: Christmas has no cold, will not have a cold, as you can see (and points to his nose), and with family, and as long as there is joy, é pá, this is it.
Diogo: (to some Portuguese fans who yell at him from a distance) is ... how is it?
Fans: All well? Kisses ...
Vanessa: How is it Christmas for Father Diogo?
Diogo: I happen to be Santa Claus. Oh, it is ... (laughs) I have no chimney, but my Santa Claus is very modern, enters through the front door. My Christmas has become now ...
Vanessa: It is a happiness ...
Diogo: É pá, it is a stunning joy. It is indeed. It's beyond good.
(Meanwhile Mickey Mouse approaches.)
Diogo: He's a fan…
Vanessa: Who is? Your son?
Diogo: Yes, we were having dinner and suddenly Mickey appears. And Mickey, of course, was a sweetheart. Gave Santiago "5." (tries to give a high five to Mickey, but Mickey indicates he doesn't have 5 fingers.) Right Mickey? "3"? No? Oh, okay "4." [fingers]
(Vanessa tries to pull the sword out of the "Sword and the Stone" as Diogo encourages her.)
Diogo: Concentrate ... Now! Pull it with everything! (mimicking the force she is using) Ahhhh! I believe that only a good heart can take this sword here. Go! Aaaaaah!
(Vanessa gives up)
Diogo: (shrugging/teasing) I said only a good heart could....

Diogo talks Emmys on "Fama Show"

Diogo spoke to SIC's "Fama Show" about his recent trip to the Emmys.  Translation of this quick, but fun interview provided by the ever wonderful Dina, and can be found right below the video.  Obrigada Dina!

(footage courtesy of Fama Show/SIC)

IVA LAMARÃO/HOST (IL): After the worldwide success of the series The Bible, Diogo Morgado was on the red carpet at the Emmy Awards in Los Angeles, and he tells us all about it. (....) This year you were at the Emmys where your series The Bible, was nominated. How was it?
DM: Look it was fantastic, I had the opportunity to be surrounded by the most talented people in the world. In line on the red carpet, I am enjoying it, and I checked my phone for a second, and when I look up I had Matt Damon three feet in front of me. I look back to tell my friends he was there, and I have Michael Douglas behind me. Ah! Okay! So maybe I'm in the best place on the red carpet here. (laughs.)
IL: Get anybody's phone number?
DM: No, look, I mean I was also close to Charlize Theron, but I didn't dare to ask for a phone number.  First because she is this tall (makes gesture of how tall), she’s very, very tall, and then she’s stunningly beautiful. It is .... You see? (points to his face, awed.)
IL: You were speechless?  Did you talk to her?
DM: No ... (laughs and shakes his head).  No, I did not. In my mind I spoke to her.  I looked at her with a fixed gaze and we were having a great conversation (laughs.)
IL: After your trip to the United States, no one stops you.
DM: (jokingly) To give an interview to you, for example. (.... laughing) Obrigado.

More of Diogo discussing "Aviões"

Here are a couple more interviews with Diogo discussing giving voice to the character of "Bulldog" in Disney's "Aviões" ("Planes.")

First up is SIC Noticias' "Jornal da Noite."  One of Diogo's awesome Portuguese fans graciously sent us a link to the video, and also gave us a translation of Diogo's parts of the interview, found right below the video.

(video courtesy of SIC Noticias/Sapo.pt)

Diogo: Gave me much enjoyment to (do Bulldog), because it is a character who represents two things that I think are nice... the side that is wiser, older... a character who is against all kinds of technologies that make easier somehow what he thinks is the true spirit of the flyer. And then you have the other side, the "British" side. Has his accent [he makes pronunciation "British"] and to him, the British don't cry.
(...)
Diogo: The film inherits the great concept of the movie "Cars."  Both are two films whose results are not only excellent in the visual universe that is very specific, but they also have the message of the analogy between the race, team work and winning. Winning at all costs is not the way to live, that is not the message... [winning] it is not the most important [thing.]
________

Next, Diogo and some of "Aviões" co-stars were featured on SIC TV's "Fama Show" discussing lending their voices to the characters in the upcoming film.

The same awesome Diogo fan was kind enough to send us a translation of Diogo's part of this quick segment too, found right below the video.  (Diogo's segment starts at the 0:55 mark of the video, FYI.)

(video courtesy of SIC/Sapo.pt)

Cláudia Borges/Interviewer: Diogo Morgado in this movie plays "Bulldog."
Diogo: True, "Bulldog," he's truly "British." Apart from being a well-known flyer, he is someone who loves his flag.
(...)
Cláudia: No GPS in his life.
Diogo : No. There isn't. What moves "Bulldog" is the pure sense of the race... he finds that all sorts of technologies are cheating, and are things that do not make sense to a real flyer.
(...)
Diogo: Do not miss the movie "Aviões" on August 15, okay?
___________

Obrigada to the awesome Portuguese fan for these links and translations.  I have said it before but it bears repeating... truly one of the best things that has come about for me personally in doing this blog is meeting so many generous, supportive, genuine, great people from Portugal.  I cannot wait to visit.  :)  Seriously, I would like to also say that this blog would not be possible without the incredible efforts and hard work of our dear and AMAZING Portuguese friends Liliana and Lou da Gama who continuously share their time and talents with us so selflessly so that we can know Diogo and Portugal better.  Obrigada to them again and again for all that they do for us here.  And I again sincerely thank Diogo for bringing his beautiful country and people to all of us, and for bringing us all together through his amazing talent.  Obrigada.

Disney's "Aviões" opens in theaters in Portugal on Thursday, August 15th, and you can see the trailer for it here.  Disney's "Planes" lands in US theaters on Friday, August 9th, and you can see its trailer here.

Diogo to appear in new ad campaign in Portugal

TMN, a Portuguese mobile phone company, announced this week that Diogo will be the "face" of their upcoming ad campaign.  The campaign is expected to include a commercial and print ads, launching sometime this weekend or week.

I will post the video and images of the ads as soon as I get them.  But, and I could be wrong, but I think this may have been what Diogo was filming when was tweeting and sharing pictures of filming last weekend, including this picture he shared, saying: "Shooting at the beach. Costa Vicentina Rules!!!"

We shall see.... In the meantime, take a look at this video about another ad campaign Diogo participated in back in 2010 for "Boa Estética" clinics. (A translation, thanks to the ever amazing Lou da Gama, is below the video.)

(Click the "Read More" link below to read the rest....)
