As you may recall, Diogo recently attended the 30th Annual Imagen Awards, where he was nominated for his work on "The Messengers."  PBS aired some of the Imagen Awards last week, and below is a very short but sweet video of Diogo presenting an award at the ceremony.

Diogo on SIC's "Jornal da Noite"

Diogo was on SIC's evening news program "Jornal da Noite" last week.  Their reporter spent the day with Diogo when he is was back in Portugal recently to promote his new film, "Virados do Avesso."  They talked as they rode around beautiful Lisbon in a "Tuk Tuk."  You'll understand what that is when you watch the video below, no translation needed. :)  But, Dina was kind enough to send us the translation for the interview, also found below.  Obrigada Dina, as always!

Diogo and Cláudia Borges on "E-Especial"

Diogo was briefly interviewed on last week's episode of "E-Especial," along with "Fama Show" host Cláudia Borges, who filmed a scene with Diogo for "Sol de Inverno."  You may remember, it was the scene where "Eduardo" learns the truth about "Andreia" and losing the baby....  Dina kindly translated this short interview for us, found right below the video.

Diogo on "Domingo Espetacular"

Diogo was interviewed on the Brazilian TV show, "Domingo Espetacular" recently to discuss "The Bible," which will be premiering in Brasil on October 16th.  Dina was kind enough to translate the interview for us, which can be found right below the video.

Voiceover: Portuguese actor Diogo Morgado plays Jesus in the series. He met with TV Record's correspondent, Italo Taveira, on the banks of the Rio Tejo, more specifically in the Park of Nations, Lisbon. Young, handsome, Diogo is living the peak of his fame.  He has done 10 films, one of them, "Red Butterfly" has just been filmed in the United States.   He has starred in 12 novelas and 22 series.  But he was never as famous as he is since appearing in "The Bible."

Diogo: (to fans taking pictures) Thank you, thank you. Kisses.

Voiceover: Diogo Morgado is 33 years old*, the same age as the character he reveals to the world.  He says that playing Jesus is a challenge, even for an actor with experience.

Diogo: Jesus was not a role. He is a living entity. And that changes everything. He's not just a historical figure. He is a figure who is alive in the hearts of millions of people around the world, everyday, day after day.

Voiceover: To Diogo Morgado, having been a part of the cast of "The Bible," is an experience of a lifetime.

Host/Italo: And how do you think the series will be received in Brasil?

Diogo: The Brazilian people are a passionate people. They're very authentic people, and I like that. It's a series that speaks of faith. Speaks of believing, speaks of having hope in positive things.  That is the message of Jesus. He speaks of love. All things that, irrespective of the religion of each, regardless of the country and culture where it ["The Bible"] may be airing, these things are universal.

(*FYI -- just a "me being picky about facts" note... Diogo is actually 32 years old.... he will be 33 on his next birthday, January 17th.  But he was born in 1981, so that means currently, he is 32.)

"Sol de Inverno" - Episode 14 Screencaps & Recap

Andreia persuades Filipa to help her abort her baby. The agent assures her that the pills she will get are the same ones given in hospitals.  Andreia is determined, as she feels that her relationship with Eduardo is already hanging by a thread, and bringing a son into it can only make it worse.  Furthermore, Andreia reminds Filipa that she will receive a generous commission and tells her to call Chiffon, assuming the job is hers.  The agent tells her to take the pills at home, because she should lie down after taking them, predicting that she will have very strong cramps.

Diogo and his "Sol de Inverno" co-star Cláudia Vieira were on the radio show "Olá Manhã" this morning to discuss the series and their characters, Eduardo and Andreia Teles de Aragão.  The show posted some video of their interview taking place, and the always incredible Dina was kind enough to send us a translation, which can be found right below the clip.

"Sol de Inverno" - Episode 13 Screencaps & Recap

Salvador, furious, storms out of his mother's office and slams the door, surprising Eduardo and Benedita, who were flirting.  Laura comes right behind Salvador and to try to talk him out of leaving the company. Says he is being unprofessional as he wants to abandon them at a time when the new shoe collection has just hit the stores.  The son returns the accusation and underlines that she was too far determined on separating him from Matilda, to the point of leaving them homeless.  Laura asks Benedita to leave them alone for a few minutes.  She then urges Salvador not to leave Boheme, because they need him, especially now since Teresa is sick.  Eduardo interrupts and says he is ready to take Salvador's place, causing his mother to become annoyed, and saying surely he has something he should be doing.  Eduardo throws a furious look to his brother, who in turn acknowledges that he is only bothered by not being able to fulfill his promise to Teresa replace her.  Laura plays another trump card, asking Salvador if he intends to live without money with his girlfriend.  The question only serves to irritate Salvador more, who responds to her that they do not need her money for anything, and that they only way he and Matilde will have a peaceful life together is to be away from it all.  Before leaving, Salvador turns to Eduardo and tells him to enjoy [taking his place.]  Laura is devastated when her son Salvador turns his back on her and walks away.

Diogo talks Emmys on "Fama Show"

IVA LAMARÃO/HOST (IL): After the worldwide success of the series The Bible, Diogo Morgado was on the red carpet at the Emmy Awards in Los Angeles, and he tells us all about it. (....) This year you were at the Emmys where your series The Bible, was nominated. How was it?

DM: Look it was fantastic, I had the opportunity to be surrounded by the most talented people in the world. In line on the red carpet, I am enjoying it, and I checked my phone for a second, and when I look up I had Matt Damon three feet in front of me. I look back to tell my friends he was there, and I have Michael Douglas behind me. Ah! Okay! So maybe I'm in the best place on the red carpet here. (laughs.)

IL: Get anybody's phone number?

DM: No, look, I mean I was also close to Charlize Theron, but I didn't dare to ask for a phone number.  First because she is this tall (makes gesture of how tall), she’s very, very tall, and then she’s stunningly beautiful. It is .... You see? (points to his face, awed.)

IL: You were speechless?  Did you talk to her?

DM: No ... (laughs and shakes his head).  No, I did not. In my mind I spoke to her.  I looked at her with a fixed gaze and we were having a great conversation (laughs.)

IL: After your trip to the United States, no one stops you.

DM: (jokingly) To give an interview to you, for example. (.... laughing) Obrigado.

Diogo as the "mystery guest" on "Boa Tarde"

Diogo was the "mystery guest" on yesterday's episode of "Boa Tarde" ("Good Afternoon"), a popular daytime/talk show in Portugal.  Specifically, Diogo "surprised" the host of "Boa Tarde," Conceição Lino, for this very fun interview.  Awesome fan Dina was kind enough to send us the video and some translation for us, which can be found below each video respective clip.

Some Behind the Scenes footage of "Sol de Inverno"

Each night this week, SIC's "Jornal da Noite" (Nightly News) is doing a feature on the behind the scenes production of "Sol de Inverno" in a series they are calling "Tá a Gravar" ("Is Recording.")  Tonight's segment, "Não faz sentido" ("It makes no sense") was about the use of sound in the recording of the show, and it featured some very brief, but fun behind the scenes video of Diogo shooting the upcoming series.

A first brief look at "Sol de Inverno"

SIC TV's "E-especial" gave us our first, brief look at the network's upcoming novela/series, "Sol de Inverno" (formerly "Ambição") this past weekend.  Although Diogo only appears in the segment very briefly in passing, I still wanted to share this first glimpse of the series, in which Diogo will be playing "Eduardo Teles De Aragão."

"Sol de Inverno" ("Winter Sun") will be premiering on SIC on Monday, September 16th, so here's hoping for more promos/press for the series featuring Diogo in the coming weeks.  Stay tuned!  

And FYI, SIC traditionally provides summaries and videos of their series' episodes online, so hopefully they will for "Sol de Inverno" on its official webpage as well once it is airing, but unfortunately the videos will not have English subtitles. But, thanks to some amazing, generous Portuguese fans, I am planning (and will do my best) to post a quick daily recap/summary of "Eduardo's" story/plot from the previous day's episode for us English fans to keep up.  Because it sounds like "Eduardo" is going to be quite the character.  :)

Diogo's 2nd TMN Commercial, "O Workaholic"
