Diogo talks about the end of "Eduardo"

Now that poor "Eduardo" has met his demise on "Sol de Inverno," Diogo recently shared some thoughts on the character coming to an end with SIC Online. Awesome Dina was kind enough to translate his words for us, found right below the video.

Diogo talks about "Eduardo"

Diogo: What will happen here... (laughs.) I'm kidding... Basically, what will happen here today is the end of Eduardo, as we know him…  So, after a very troubled relationship with his mother, Laura, Eduardo goes a little bit to the extreme, here, and decides to meet with his mother in this abandoned building and tell her what he has already told her, but in a more decisive way, which is, basically, is whatever he feels. He thinks that the way he has always been treated by his mother justifies all the actions he has taken ever since. They end up becoming physically violent. Their discussion is taken to the extreme and ends with the death of Eduardo.  Curiously, it also happens to be my last day of shooting. It was a curious coincidence, a surprise for me because it turns out the farewell of the character, is the farewell to the team, is the farewell tothe project, a project that I loved doing.  Loved giving life to "Eduardo." I think there are many "Eduardo's" out there, although we may think not....  I think he couldn’t have had any other end, right? Eduardo is like chewing gum on the shoe, that when stuck, is difficult to remove. He would always be a character that would never have peace. He dies with the frustration of never having received the satisfaction of pleasing her. And finishes like he started, right? With this great frustration.  There are people who are in fact immensely frustrated and end up living their lives exhibiting this frustration. And I think that Eduardo, is basically that, and the result of lacking, and poor learning.  There are people like that. So I think it was a beautiful portrait, thank God, of a minority in our society, but that is there, and deserve to be recognized...  I hope you guys, on that side (other side of the camera), continue to follow "Sol de Inverno," and follow SIC Online, to maybe also learn of other things I might be doing outside of the series.  Stay on that side, that's the most important.
___________

Gotta admit, I kinda miss "Eduardo" already.  :)

Diogo on today's "E-Especial"

SIC's "E-Especial" talked to Diogo on the set of "Sol de Inverno" back when he was filming his final scenes as "Eduardo."  I know we are not caught up with "Sol" here on the blog, there was just too much exciting Diogo stuff to post last week with the "Son of God" DVD release!  :)  But I will catch us up/wrap up "Sol de Inverno" for us next week, I promise.  But if you don't want to know what happens until you see it, wait until then to watch this interview below.  Otherwise, below the video is a translation of the short but sweet interview, courtesy once again of our wonderful Dina.  Obrigada Dina!

"Sol de Inverno" - Episodes 192 and 193 Translations

As a reminder, I am only posting a few scenes from some of the most recent episodes of "Sol de Inverno" to catch us up.  To recap, even after her death, Thais was able to send a text to all of Eduardo's brothers and sisters telling them where their mother Laura was being held.  Eduardo was able to reach the doctor and have Laura moved to a vacant building before his siblings got there, and the doctor assured them their mother was not there.  But the siblings are more convinced than ever that Eduardo knows where their mother is, and have vowed to do all they can to find her and make Eduardo pay. Eduardo is more convinced than ever they will never find their mother.  Meanwhile, Rita is putting pressure on Eduardo to marry her after all she has done for him...  And that's where we pick up our scenes below, and of course, as always, a huge thank you to Dina for the translations!
(At the 00:53 mark, Eduardo goes to visit his mother after she has been moved to an abandoned building so his siblings can't find her.)
Eduardo: Good morning, Mom.
Laura: Why are you doing this to me?
Eduardo: Because you haven’t give me any other option, Mother.
Laura: (screams) Don’t call me mother. I'm not your mother. I hate you.
Eduardo: Wow, wow, you're so hard to please mother. You like nothing. You were in hospice, you didn’t like being in hospice. Now I bring you here but you apparently don’t like being here. You don't like me, you don't like anything. You like nothing.
Laura: You bastard, get me outta here. I'm getting out. I'm going to get out.
Eduardo: You're gonna get out, mom? How? Tell me.  Are my brothers and sisters going to get you out? No. .. I don't think so. Last night they even tried to pay a visit to the hospice, and they found nothing. Actually, it was a pity.
(Eduardo hands her a plate with bread on it.)
Eduardo: Go on, take the little bread there that is warm. Come on mom, do it, you need your strength...
(Laura cries.)
Eduardo: Mom, if I were you, I would get used to the idea that will you not leave here anytime soon.
Laura: Where did I go wrong with you?
Eduardo: Where did you go wrong, Mom? Nowhere. Nowhere.
Laura: I must have done something wrong. Your siblings are nothing like you.
Eduardo: I'm in charge here. I decide when you eat, when you don't eat, if you eat, if you sleep, I'm even able to decide if you don't sleep. And listen, Mother, I'll decide if and when you get out of here. Get that into your head.
Laura: Where are you going Eduardo? Don’t leave me here... Don’t leave me here... Please... Take me with you... Son...
(Eduardo kisses her hands and leaves.)

Rita: So? Have you thought about what I told you?  (About them getting there marriage license today/getting married ASAP.)
Eduardo: Oh Rita...
Rita: Oh Rita, what?
Eduardo: Rita, I have a meeting today. I can’t miss it.
Rita: Oh yes, of course, a meeting ...
Eduardo: I'm serious, I'm not lying. Yes, I have a meeting. I'm not lying ... I told you, love, that we're getting married. But we don't need to schedule it today, do we?
Rita: We also don't need to go there together, do we? Just takes one of us. And I can easily stop by there...
(Eduardo hands a paper to Rita.)
Rita: What’s this?
Eduardo: It's the address where my mother is. I have this meeting ...
Rita: You are funny. You must think I'm still the maid, no?
Eduardo: (full of charm) Ohhh, my maid, I told you that we're getting married. We'll go there tomorrow. Tomorrow the two of us will go together to handle this. I promise.
Rita: You like me? You love me?
Eduardo: Yesss .... Sure.

"Sol de Inverno" - Episode 191 Translations

(As always, a huge thank you to Dina for the translations.)

(Teresa and Simão talk in the office about the disappearance of their mother and the possible involvement of Eduardo. Meanwhile a police inspector comes to speak with Eduardo.)
Eduardo: Inspector, good afternoon.
Inspector: Good afternoon, how are you?
Eduardo: I'm fine, thank you. I have already told your colleagues everything that I know ...
Inspector: About your mother, we will speak later. But what brings me here, is another matter.
Eduardo: Sit down, please. Sit. Relax.
Inspector: Thank you very much.
Eduardo: What’s this about?
Inspector: Dr. Eduardo I've come to tell you about the death of Mrs. Thais Lima.
(Eduardo pretends to be surprised and disturbed.)
Inspector: The body was found in a parking lot. Everything indicates that the cause of death was being run over, but we will only confirm this after the autopsy.
Eduardo: My God ... and where was this?
Inspector: Not far from here.
Eduardo: You kn0ow I did not even know that Thais was in Portugal. She's wanted by the police, as you know. Killed all my family's horses, an incident with incalculable loss, and priceless grief.
Inspector: I thought you could help me. You lived together, she could have contacted you...
Eduardo: She could've, of course she could have. But no, no. I have not talked to her in months. Moreover, as I said, I was sure she was in Brazil or any other country. After all, as the inspector must know, she has an arrest warrant.
Inspector: Yes, I know. She had friends in Portugal?
Eduardo: Friends? Friends, no, no. I don’t know of any. In fact, she came from Brazil with me, here to Portugal. After that we set up a pharmaceutical business... So our contacts were all international.
(Eduardo begins to cry.)
Eduardo: Inspector, I apologize. Give me a second. I wasn’t expecting this.
Inspector: Feel free.
(Eduardo gets up and goes to get a glass of water.)
Inspector: Dr. Eduardo, for someone who treated you so badly, you seem to be very upset.
Eduardo: Inspector, please, it's the death of a person, is it not? Moreover a person I know ... She always was a complicated person, but ... Poor thing, things were not going the way she wanted, until it seems everything came to a head. But I am unable to wish someone dead. Even her, please ...
Inspector: Well, we will continue to investigate. If you remember something that is important, do not hesitate to contact me.
Eduardo: Sure, of course. Sure. Inspector, even if you can help me, I never met her family, anyway, all I know is that her family is poor, and I want, Inspector, I want to pay to transport Thais' body to Brazil. I want to do that.
Inspector: I will give orders accordingly.
Eduardo: Thank you very much, Inspector.
(Eduardo reaches his hand out to the inspector but he puts an envelope in Eduardo's hand.)
Inspector: Here is the notice to go to the police tomorrow to make statements about the disappearance of your mother.
Eduardo: Really, there is not two, but three.  When this is the case, it's one behind the other. Certainly, Inspector, I'll be there to say... well... everything that I know.
Inspector: Was a pleasure.
Eduardo: The pleasure was mine.

(Eduardo and Rita talk in the bedroom.)
Eduardo: They are closing in on us, Rita.
Rita: Why? Do you think the inspector is still suspicious?
Eduardo: No, but ... I dunno ... someone might have seen us, someone could identify the car, someone ...
Rita: There is no way to associate us with the death of Thais, ok? We were at the cinema, the movie was great, there were no cameras in the parking lot, her cell phone was destroyed, the car has already been fixed, what more do you want? Thais is not a problem. Now your mother, yes, that is.
Eduardo: I have to about think what I will tell the police. I'll have to explore all options. And then there's another thing that is worrying me. Thais were very clear, she told me that if anything happened to her, that my siblings would find out that my mother was locked up.
Rita: But that's a lie. She just told you that because she was afraid something would happen to her.
Eduardo: Maybe??
Rita: Sure!
\Eduardo: If my siblings discover where my mother is hospitalized ...
Rita: Stop it. Stop with this conversation, okay? All of this is a lie. Nothing will happen, everything's okay. No one will know where your mother is. Okay?

(Teresa, Vicente, Eduardo and Rita are in the living room)
Teresa: Eduardo, I would like to talk with you.
Eduardo: (sits) Very well ...
Teresa: If it can just be the two of us, in the library...
(They go to the library.)
Eduardo: First of all let me thank you. I already received the police’s notice. You should all be very happy.
Teresa: I did what I thought should be done.
Eduardo: This notion of justice would make Judas proud...
Teresa: I didn’t ask you to come here for us to argue, much less for me to be insulted. Want to hear what I have to tell you?
Eduardo: I'm all ears ...
Teresa: I need to know if mom is alive or not. Eduardo, please ...
Eduardo: I don’t know where mother is. I have no idea where mother is. How many times do I have to repeat myself, Teresa.
Teresa: You do know, yes you know. Why else would you write emails in her name?
Eduardo: I have not written any emails.
Teresa: Don't deny it, Eduardo, I know perfectly well that you did it.  It was always you. Eduardo, please, I'm begging you. I swear to you... I'll withdraw the police complaint, I'll give you full power of the entire company, I'll agree with everything you want, but please tell me she's okay... tell me where she is... I'm your sister, please...
Eduardo: Teresa, I have no idea where our mother is. I wish I could help you, but I don’t know...
Teresa: Let me be clear that from this moment on there is no turning back, Eduardo. The police will go after you and will find out what you're doing, and I will not have any pity, or compassion. I'll not remember, even for a minute,  that you are my brother. Starting today you are a target to beat.
Eduardo: Teresa…
(Teresa leaves.)

The siblings are all gathered at Salvador’s home, but Margarida left her phone at the house.  Eduardo is alone in the living room, having a drink, when a message pops up on Margarida's phone. He cannot resist reading the message.  It is a message from Thais to all his siblings, saying where Laura is being held.  Eduardo panics. He calls the doctor right away to say that he is on his way there as he leaves, running.

"Sol de Inverno" - Episode 189 Translations

As a reminder, because of real life taking over, I am only posting a few scenes from some of the most recent episodes of "Sol de Inverno" to catch us all up, with my sincere apologies for the gap and delay in posting.  But this episode I am posting is a pivotal episode for "Eduardo."  But to recap the episodes we have missed:  Eduardo kicked Margarida out of the house and Teresa followed her out.... Rita convinced Eduardo to befriend Vicente to talk to him about convincing Teresa not to go to the police about Laura, who is still "missing".... Eduardo started receiving mysterious phone calls where no one said anything, and then he saw someone on the street he was certain was Thais.... and with that, below is episode 189 of "Sol de Inverno."   And as always, a huge thank you to Dina for the translations!

"Sol de Inverno" - Episodes 181 and 184 Translations

As a reminder, I am only posting a few scenes from some of the most recent episodes of "Sol de Inverno" to catch us all up.   As always, a huge thank you to Dina for the translations!

(6 months have now passed since the last episode. Teresa is waiting for Eduardo at the office.)
Teresa: I was thinking you'd never get here.
Eduardo: Was the traffic. What's going on? I don't remember having anything planned with you.
Teresa: Eduardo, I've made a decision. Mother has gone too long without giving us news. I'll talk with Detective Morais about going to look for her.
Eduardo: Teresa, that isn’t true, is it? Mother has sent emails.
Teresa: That's not enough. I need to hear her voice. I need her to call me.
Eduardo: I don’t understand... Mother didn’t want to be disturbed. I don’t understand why we must insist.
Teresa: I'm not saying she has to come back already. I just need her to assure me that she’s fine, that she's alive. And I can’t understand how you can be so calm... I mean, if I think like you, it's better that mother doesn’t return, right?
Eduardo: Teresa  look, now you're offending me, okay? Okay? I'm just respecting mother's decision, nothing more.
Teresa: You know you'd run for president in two days...
Eduardo: Teresa, there is nothing, nothing more important to me than the health and well-being of our mother. Much more important than any job here at the company.
Teresa: I doubt it. I doubt that's the case ... Anyway, I need to know she's okay. For six months there has not been a single activity on her bank account.
Eduardo: That's... that's weird, Teresa. That’s very strange, but I don’t know... maybe she has an account that we don’t know about, or she took money with her, whatever.
Teresa: No more excuses. I'll talk to Detective Morais whether you like it or not. I'll bring our mother back.
(She leaves and Eduardo is enraged. He makes a phone call to somebody.)
Eduardo: I need to talk to you as soon as possible. It's urgent.

(Eduardo meets with Detective Morais.)
Morais: I confess that I was surprised when you called. I wasn’t expecting that.
Eduardo: Well ... I thank you in advance for coming. But actually I have a very important issue to discuss with you. Let me ask you, has my sister Teresa called you?
Morais: I have not spoken with anyone in your family for months.
Eduardo: Yeah, but she will call you. She'll call. She knows that you worked for years for my mother, done several jobs for her, and she'll not only call, but she will try to hire you. And Detective Morais, what you will say is, that my mother is well ...
Morais: And why would I do that?
Eduardo: I was expecting that question. However, I am sure detective, that this (an envelope) answers all your questions.
(Morais sees that the envelope contains money)
Eduardo: Say something? Say nothing? Come on Detective, Can I trust you, and be rest assured?
Morais: Don’t worry.
Eduardo: I knew it. I knew I could trust you. Have a nice day. It's already paid for (their drinks).

(At the 1:03 mark, Eduardo is in his office and gets a call.  But no one says anything, he only hears breathing.  Eduardo is apprehensive and calls immediately to the clinic where his mother is hospitalized, to see if there is any news.  The doctor him all is well, that his mother is sedated and sleeping.)

(Eduardo, Rita, Teresa and Vicente dine in silence. Rita calls the maid, Marisa, to bring her a chocolate cake for dessert.  When the maid doesn’t respond, Rita gets up and goes to get the cake herself.)
Eduardo: So Vicente tell us, how was today's work at the gym? Many fat women for you to scream at them to move?
Vicente: Actually the job is going quite well. I can't complain. And I have managed to build a career of my own right. I don't know if you know, Eduardo, but my parents don't own any gym...
Eduardo: No, I didn’t know…
Vicente: I don’t know if Teresa ever told you, but Andreia is also working there too.
Eduardo: But, which Andreia?
Vicente: That one.
Eduardo: You knew this, Teresa?
Teresa: Yes I knew. And I told Vicente for him to be careful and to not give trust her much.
Vicente: She doesn't seem such a bad person. At least so far I have no reason to complain.
Eduardo: Look I warn you as your friend, Vicente. Andreia is a viper..
Teresa: You've always had tremendous ability to pick women...
(Eduardo doesn't respond. Margarida arrives.)
Eduardo: Is it so hard to get to the table on time? We've already finished dinner...
Margarida: I was sending an email to mom. Must already be twenty I have sent her this week, and she doesn’t even answer me..
Eduardo: You still insist .....
Margarida: Shut up! Teresa, I think we should go talk to the police...
Eduardo: Mom is on vacation. It isn’t the police that will bring her back, is it?
Margarida: But who do you think you are kidding? We've already noticed that you don't want to know about mother. You are loving having power at Boheme.
Eduardo: But who told you that? I'm worried about mother ...
Margarida: Eduardo, you are not concerned aboutmother or anyone... More and more I wish you had died in Mexico (and she rises from the table).
Eduardo: You deserve a couple of slaps, you understand? Listen, you can’t talk to me like that, okay?
Teresa: You are in big trouble if you raise your hand...
Rita: But what's going on? Now that the cake is here, everyone gets up? I don’t understand.
Eduardo: (gets up too) I lost my appetite.
Rita: That's another one...
Vicente: I'll try a piece.

More scenes/episodes to come and we will be all caught up soon!  Thank you again for your patience!
