So, we've seen many clips of Diogo being interviewed by a TV host, including yesterday's post of him on a late-night talk show. But I thought it might be fun to turn the tables, and show a clip where Diogo IS the host, and gets to do the interviewing for a change.....

To that effect, today's "Clip of the Day" comes from June 2009 when Diogo hosted the live TV special "Gala Amor de Verão" ("Summer of Love Gala.") This variety show style program on SIC featured various acts and entertainers as a kick off to summer. You may recall Diogo spoke of hosting this show in his "Episódio Directo," saying of it, "I had contact with the audience, that was a challenge, and I had lots of friends who sang there, so I did it with pleasure, It was great."
So here's a glimpse of "host"/interviewer Diogo from "Amor de Verão," and the ever amazing Lou da Gama translated this fun clip for us, found below the video.
So, we all know Diogo is so talented that he makes every scene he is in look effortless. But there is a lot that goes into every scene, even more so in filming a "special" scene, such as a "love" scene, or a chase/fight scene. Since we really didn't get to see Diogo in those types of scenes in "The Bible," hee, I thought it might be interesting to see what has gone into the making of these unique scenes in the series he has done in the past.
Thus, today's "Clips of the Day" feature interviews with Diogo and a couple of his co-stars talking about what it takes to film these particular types of scenes.
First clip comes from 2010, when SIC'sE-especialtalked to Diogo and his co-star Sisley Dias ("Tiago") on the set of "Laços de Sangue" about an upcoming chase and fight scene they would be doing for the series. Our friend Lou da Gama kindly translated the clip for us, found right below the video.

Even though it is technically not Father's Day in Portugal, (Father's Day is actually celebrated on St. Joseph's Day, March 19th, in Portugal) I still wanted to wish Diogo a very Happy Father's Day as we in the US celebrate it today. And I also wanted to use "Father's Day" as the theme for today's "Clip of the Day." So, today's clip comes from a 2010 interview with Diogo on the SIC Mulher show "Mundo das Mulheres,"where he discussed being a father -- both onscreen and off.

Interview with Diogo about playing a vampire, that is. :)
Today's "Clips of the Day" come from 2010... when Diogo had a cameo role on SIC's vampire series, "Lua Vermelha" ("Red Moon"), as"Artur," a fearsome vampire who returns for revenge.
Below are two interviews Diogo gave in 2010 about playing a vampire/Artur, followed by translations of the interviews, thanks to the incredible Liliana.
Recent posts/clips of Diogo's past work, like the interview/"skit" with Nilton and the play he did, "Acredita, Estou Possuído” have had many of us commenting on how good Diogo is at comedy. Sure, we all know from "The Bible" and the SIC novels we have seen clips of that Diogo is an extremely talented dramatic actor. But I know I personally was equally impressed by his knack for comedic timing and physical comedy after seeing him in things like "VIP Manicure," and I was curious to see more of this "side" of Diogo's talent. To that end, today's Clip of the Day comes from Diogo's appearance on "Malucos do Riso" ("Crazy Laugh(ter)") in 2007. "Malucos do Riso" is the longest running comedy series on SIC, where it began airing in 1995. According to Wikipedia (via Google translate,) "Malucos do Riso" is "a show of popular anecdotes concerning traditional characters and stereotypes -- blondes, the grocery store, and many others. Laughter, jokes and willingness for everyone!" So to me, it sounds like "Malucos do Riso" is what we in the US call a "sketch comedy series," along the lines of "Mad TV" or "Saturday Night Live." In this clip of Diogo on "Malucos do Riso" from 2007, you can see him as several characters -- all very different. From an obedient young man going to ask his boss for permission to marry his daughter, to a "playboy" talking to his friend about girls, to a doctor, to a straight-A student in elementary school.

"Adelaide de Sousa/AS: Welcome back. We are with Diogo Morgado, one of the most successful Portuguese actors, who filmed recently in Los Angeles the sequel to “Born to Race.” But we will talk about that soon… I want to talk to you about theatre… You début in theatre with “Geração Out”… DM: Yes, I débuted at Teatro Maria Matos, by the hand of Almeno Gonçalves. AS: That first impact with live theatre, I saw at the Biography Channel… it was agonizing for you…. DM: It was like… you’re at the back, just waiting to go on scene and you think, “I am not going to make it, it’s impossible for me to go in there…” There is nothing like that. AS: At Teatro Maria Matos, right? DM: Maria Matos… a small theatre (sneering), and you just panic! Just a baby boy, 15 years old… not sure of anything… just jump there like a crazy, trust your instinct, and that’s how it was! Then… I did a piece of children's theater “A Canção dos Oceanos” in which I did a stuttering dolphin! And I can tell you that, doing that character for the first time I thought: “I want to be an actor”. It was like, “I think I am going to try this.” Because it had nothing to do with fame, I was doing a stuttering dolphin in auditoriums around the country, and in the end kids came to us and if I gave an autograph signed “Diogo” they said: “No… Dolphin! Who is Diogo?” and I said, “Ohh sorry…” and write Dolphin… That felt good, the kids laughing every time I s-s said a stutt- stuttered wo-word and I thought: man… I did this, I made this reaction…
AS: It gave you that pleasure of creation, you did something and the reaction was right there.
DM: An honest, sincere and genuine response, from the kids!
AS: Ricardo Pereira was here last week and he said the same… play for kids is most challenging work. Who makes a research about you does not find just good things…

Today's "Clip of the Day" is all in good fun. It's a quick, lighthearted interview Diogo did in 2008 for the SIC TVshow E-Especial. The interview was done in Brazil where he was shooting some scenes for the SIC drama, "Podia Acabar o Mundo" ("The World Could End.") See below the clip for a translation of the fun interview, courtesy of yet again, the wonderfully kind @MsLiliana.
"Diogo Morgado: One day I rode a horse, scared him, and I hit my nose on the horse's mane… I was the laughing stock for three years, so, horses for me… are great there in the background, I like the animal, see it on the TV, like it. But to ride, I have some respect.
Reporter/Sofia: I heard someone say you have trouble with bees…?
Diogo Morgado: Oh Sofia… c'mon… You cannot go around there telling these things… right? Look, I can be a victim of an outrage… After this I can be a victim of an outrage! People can go on the street, and can eventually bring with them a swarm of bees, in a little bag, and throw those at me… that’s bad!
Sofia: To make this character, Rodrigo Louro, you had to make some changes to your looks… You are a happy man with a beard…
Diogo Morgado: Yes, to convey the idea of more relaxed, wild, something not so formal. Happily, I had the privilege that they accepted the character with a beard!

One of the things that most moved me and many of Diogo's fans about his performance as "Jesus" in the "Bible" was how emotive he in his acting. Meaning that through his actions, reactions, and expressions, he is able to say so much, without saying anything at all.
Today's "Clip of the Day" is a scene from the 2007 SIC TV show "Vingança" ("Revenge") where Diogo played "Santiago," and it is another perfect example of Diogo's amazing ability to convey so much, to make the audience feel what his character does, without uttering a single word. See for yourself, I don't think you'll need any translation....
Anyone who has seen the Crucifixion scene in "The Bible" knows that Diogo is a fearless actor.... but today's "Clip of the Day" is another perfect example of that.
For his role as "João Caldas Ribeiro" in the 2010 SIC TV drama series, "Laços de Sangue" ("Blood Ties"), Diogo decided to do one of his own stunts, despite his fears. The stunt? Jumping off of a cliff.... literally.
He discussed doing the daring stunt in an interview with SIC TV, and right under the clip, you will find a translation of the interview, once again thanks to our own fearless heroine, @MsLiliana.

Denise de Magalhães (Ana Bola) and Maria Delfina Caroço (Maria Rueff) are two "sculptors of nails", aka manicurists working in a shopping center pompously called Forum, in a suburb somewhere. Have a "corner of nails" under the stairs of the center, but Denise is very ambitious and has the dream of receiving VIP’s and treating their nails, which they ultimately achieve. This series is a situation comedy. Translating the lines:
Denise: Ohh Our Lady bless me.. Here comes Salazar! Waitress: Aww this so bad that even Salazar will do… Denise: It´s not that, girls! Salazar is coming here! Waitress: Is he the one that’s going to substitute the other minister? Denise: Girls, shut up and look!!! (Maria Delfina starts running in slow motion towards Diogo…) Maria Delfina: Awwww aww Salazar!! You’re as handsome in young as in old! Do it to me like you did on the movie!
