Hello everyone.  It’s Domique (@hazeleyez79_DRW on twitter) again.  I hope everyone is having a fantastic day today.  Today Sara has afforded me the pleasure of presenting “Throwback Thursday” on the blog.

Today, I throwback to 2011.  Specifically to: "A Parideira" ("The Breeder") is a 20-minute Portuguese short film by José Miguel Moreira starring Diogo, Ana Moreira, and José Pinto.   This film is about the journey of a young couple and their inability to conceive.  Filmed in Portugal, it was released in March of 2011.

As the story goes, there is a miraculous cave called the Breeder (a Parideira).  The cave, which is guarded by a mysterious old pastor (José Pinto), is located somewhere on top of a mountain range.  Legend has it that if an infertile woman enters the cave, she will leave the cave already pregnant.  However, the downside to this is that, in order for such a miracle to happen, one person has to stay back and sacrifice their life in the cave that same night.

Margarida (Ana Moreira) and her husband, Tiago (Diogo), are a young couple who have been trying to get pregnant without success.  On the brink of hopelessness, this yearning motivates Margarida to return to her roots with her husband and as a last alternative, enter this cave to try to get pregnant.  Unbeknownst to the couple, the pastor has a sinister plan in store for them.

Below is the trailer for "A Parideira."

"Throwback Thursday" -- from guest blog contributor, Domique

(Note from Sara: Today's first of two "Throwback Thursday" posts comes from our friend and guest blog contributor Domique, aka @hazeleyez79_DRW, making her debut with this post, so please show her some love over on Twitter or in the comments section here.  Thanks, Sara)

Hello my fellow DiogoFanFriends, I’m Domique (@hazeleyez79_DRW on twitter).  A pleasure to meet all of you.  For my "Throwback Thursday" spotlight, my focus is a true story drama from Diogo’s awesome film collection.  His talent is beyond measure. Oh… and by the way, we get an idea of what Diogo may look like when he gets old.  He is still as handsome as ever.  I hope you guys like it as much as I do.

"A Vida Privada de Salazar" (The Private Life of Salazar)
by Jorge Queiroga (2009)

“A Vida Privada de Salazar” was a miniseries based on a true story.  Salazar was a professor and politician who served as the Prime Minister of Portugal for over forty years.  At the end of his life, Salazar reflects on his options and choices he made and did not make. The story was focused on Salazar’s life from when he was a young man spending time in a seminary through his time spent as a teacher and the over forty years he ruled as a Portuguese dictator. During this time, he had a “turbulent effective” secret life.

Salazar’s appetite for women was the major focus of the miniseries. He never married and devoted his life to his country.  The film shines a light on his personal life, which was unknown to many for years.

“A Vida Privada de Salazar” was released in Portugal in February of 2009.  Filming took place in Lisbon, Portugal, Diogo Morgado’s hometown.  Diogo portrayed the lead character, Portuguese dictator Antonio de Oliveira Salazar.

Here's a great clip from the film, so sit back, relax, and enjoy.

Cooking with Diogo (Clip of the Day)

Today, on the one week "birthday" of this blog, I wanted to introduce a new daily (hopefully) feature called "Clip of the Day" where we'll post a fun clip of Diogo you might not have seen before.

So our first "Clip of the Day" (in two parts) is from 2011, when Diogo appeared on the SIC TV's show "Boa Tarde" (Good Afternoon") for a segment called "Na Cozinha Com" ("In the Kitchen With.")  Yes, it's in Portuguese, but you don't need to know the language to see Diogo has yet another talent -- he knows his way around a kitchen! :)

Bon appétit!

Many thanks and credit to our incredibly cool Diogofanfriends blog contributor Domique (aka @hazeleyez79_DRW) for finding and sharing these clips with us.

(And another HUGE thanks to the ever amazing Diogomorgadofans' YouTube Channel for uploading/sharing the clips!)

And the biggest THANK YOU to all of you for your kind words and support on the blog.  We so appreciate the response we've gotten, but meeting so many of you has been the best part of all.  It's only been a week but I feel like I've known some of you forever.  So thank you, and thanks to Diogo for bringing us all together.

PS Our very own Portuguese goddess @MsLiliana was kind enough to send us a translation of the recipe and clip!  She says:

"Who knew, right?  This is an entry made of mushroom, goat cheese, apple, meat and strawberry sweet.   He says when he was 12 he made a dish with  his dad - Bacahau com natas (codfish with cream - a Portuguese dish) and instead of salt he put sugar on the cream... so it didn't work at all!  They talk about the novela Laços de Sangue (the TV show "Blood Ties") when Diogo Morgado spared a double to make the scene that he jumps from a cliff to the sea with a 12m high. All the show he is very funny and relaxed, calling himself "Chef Morgado." Almost in the end the presenter says the time is ending and he says: Oh Meu Deus - which means - Oh My God, because he wanted to make a fine presentation of the dish and needed time for that.  He baptized the recipe as  Mushrooms Emmy, due to the Emmy Prize Laços de Sangue won."

Thank you, Ms. Liliana for that!

Diogo on Being the "It" Boy in Hollywood

Our very own eagle-eye Diogofanfriends blog contributor,  Domique (aka the awesome @hazeleyez79_DRW on Twitter,) found this cool online interview with Diogo, talking about the success of "The Bible," including how it has changed his Twitter and Facebook fan bases, but we already knew that, right?  :)
