Since some of you may have only recently discovered Diogo and "The Bible" via the Blu Ray & DVD sets or encore viewings, you may have missed some of the great interviews did Diogo did to promote the series prior to it airing.  So, we've gathered some of them here.  We have to say, Diogo is SO good at press, even with the occasionally embarrassing question.  Diogo's a good sport, and make sure you check out him "blessing" Nancy O'Dell towards the end of this first up ET Online interview.  It's a sweet moment.  Enjoy!

Diogo Morgado -- Superhero?

Not really...  but he was photographed playing a "superhero" in Portugal recently for The Man Issue by Mario Galiano.

"After the success of 'Glamour by Mario Galiano' in which 47 Portuguese women were portrayed in the glamour of the 40's and 50's, photographer of personalities, Mario Galiano, now starts the project "The Man Issue" dedicated to the Portuguese men.

In this project, Mario Galiano intended to capture images of 20 Portuguese male public figures, from various areas such as theatre, music, sports and fashion.

The project's concept is based on the idea of ​​capturing unpublished photographs, cinematic in nature, but man-centered -- their personality, in their expressions and in his presence.

The objective of Mario Galiano is to gather the images in a book and an exhibition to be held in 2013."

Good morning/afternoon/evening my fellow DiogoFanFriends –- wherever in the world you are! I am truly honored to write the first “Throwback Thursday” blog! Our aim with Throwback Thursday is to bring you something that Diogo did before his work on The Bible Series.

Today’s Throwback Thursday comes from 2009. It’s a movie called “Star Crossed.” (Thanks to the lovely Liliana (@msliliana) for sending me this video!)

It’s a modern day Romeo & Juliet story about 2 people, Ines and Paul, who fall in love but are on opposite sides of a huge rivalry between 2 of Portugal’s football teams -- Invicta and Castelo. Our lovely Diogo plays Hugo Pereira, Ines’ cousin. The movie is about half in Portuguese and half in English. We get to see a little of Diogo’s bad side, and even get to see him play some soccer!

Diogo Sings!

Hahaha!  This rocks!  It's in 5 separate parts/links, all from a show called "Chamar a Musica" on SIC, from 2011 I believe.  It looks like Diogo and some of his "Blood Ties" cast members "competed" on Portugal's version of a show we had awhile back called "The Singing Bee."  But don't worry, the best parts need no translation, hee!

When Portugal "met" Diogo....

So most of us in the USA know exactly when and how we first "discovered" Diogo Morgado, it was in "The Bible."

But what about in Portugal where he's from and been "known there" for many years?  Ever wonder when/how they first became enthralled by their native son, Diogo?  Well, we've had several awesome Portuguese fans write us to tell us about the film "Amo-te, Teresa" ("I Love You, Teresa") from 2000.  On the "Amo-te, Teresa" IMDb Page, a summary of the movie says "Teresa and Miguel, of 35 and 15 years respectively, get involved. Teresa is a doctor and, after a frustrated love life, she decides to abandon Lisbon and returns to her native land. When she arrives, she is welcomed with some hostility by her countrymen, with the exception of an old friend and her two sons. Immediately, a strong attraction between her and the oldest son (Miguel) of her friend is born."  

Twenty at the time, Diogo played the 15-year-old character, "Miguel."  

Though not Diogo's first acting job in his homeland, according to several fans in Portugal, this is when Portugal really took notice of Diogo Morgado.  One fan on Twitter, @UrsulaPortugal sent us a trailer for "Amo-te, Teresa" saying of the movie, "that was the moment Portugal fell in love with him."  Watch the trailer below, you don't really need to understand Portuguese to see why. :)




Another fan, Amanda Blalock, who was living in Portugal at the time, told us that she "remembers that this movie raised two discussions in the media: 1) the controversial relations between adults and teenagers ... and 2) the new star Diogo Morgado."  Amanda also sent us another trailer for the film:
 


Again, not sure you need to know a word of Portuguese to see why this film caught Portugal's attention and garnered such high praise for Diogo's talent. You don't even need Google Translate to understand why they are rightly so proud of him.

Diogo on Being the "It" Boy in Hollywood

Our very own eagle-eye Diogofanfriends blog contributor,  Domique (aka the awesome @hazeleyez79_DRW on Twitter,) found this cool online interview with Diogo, talking about the success of "The Bible," including how it has changed his Twitter and Facebook fan bases, but we already knew that, right?  :)

"Eu sou Portugal" -- Por Diogo Morgado

"I am Portugual" -  A Film by Diogo Morgado

One of the things we aim with this blog is to bring attention to Diogo's work outside of Jesus/"The Bible," such as his work in his native country of Portugal, and as his work BEHIND the camera.

It is with that intention that we proudly share the project Diogo recently said on his Portuguese Facebook Page was the first thing he did when he returned to Portugal after filming "The Bible" this past summer.  As part of the Portugal Destination Project, Diogo traveled nearly 2000 miles across his beloved country, talking to people all along his journey, and filming for five days.  

The result is the above film, "Eu sou Portugal" ("I am Portugal") -- by Diogo Morgado."  According to the Portugal Destination Project's website, Diogo served as an "ambassador" for the project, "whose mission is to unite all of Portuguese in a common cause: to show that our country is a prime tourist destination" (as translated by Google Translate).  

We realize that like us, most of you will not understand any of what is being said in the film.  Despite this, it is still is great to watch.  Because even without understanding the language, "Eu sou Portugal" shows Diogo's truly impressive talent as a filmmaker, in that it coveys through imagery the true, utter beauty of Portugal, and you can see, practically feel, Diogo's obvious pride and love for his homeland.  I think we can easily speak for Portugal when we say, the feeling is mutual.
