Diogo discusses "Frozen"

Diogo was interviewed by Renato Duarte of Rádio Renascença while he was at Disneyland Paris recently to promote Disney's upcoming animated film, "Frozen," in which Diogo lends his voice to a character in the Portuguese version of the film.  Translation of the interview is found below the video, and thanks as always to Dina.

Renato Duarte (at the 2:14 mark): Diogo, we just watched the special Disney Christmas Parade, which opens this two-month season. Extraordinary isn't it?

Diogo: It is ... It now seems that yes, Christmas starts to settle in. It's like Christmas knocks at the door, and I am up there at the door, all dressed, and say "Come in Christmas, welcome."

Renato: Ready to welcome Christmas in Disneyland, especially because you are part of a big Disney project this Christmas, the new film "Frozen."

Diogo: For me "Frozen" is a return to the great Disney classics. It's those aspects of their noble history -- romance, fun, action, the prince, the princesses, spells, castles. I'm not the prince, but I am the more "cool" character, cuter, more fun, funnier, because he's the poor guy who sells ice there in their land, and suddenly one of the princesses is bewitched with a spell and everything is frozen.  So imagine the problem for a guy who sells ice, to suddenly have ice everywhere.  Takes away his business, right?  Nobody needs his ice. And he is not interested in helping anyone.  He just wants to solve his problem.  And suddenly he stumbles on this adventure, and, of course, then the noble values are realized. The adventure serves as the pretext for the nobleness and values, which is the theme of the great Disney classics.

Disney's "Frozen" opens in US movie theaters on November 27th, and you lucky fans in Portugal can hear Diogo in "Frozen" when it opens in movie theaters there on November 28th.  But!  The rest of us can at least hear Diogo in this trailer for the Portuguese version of the film, which is officially titled "Frozen: O Reino do Gelo."

Diogo in Disney's "Aviões" ("Planes")

How cool is this?  Diogo will be the voice of one the characters in "Aviões," the Portuguese version of the upcoming Disney film, "Planes." Specifically, Diogo will be the voice of the character/plane, "Bulldog":

According to the "Planes" official cast descriptions, "Bulldog" (who will be voiced by John Cleese in the US version of the film) "has been racing longer than every other racer on the circuit. As the oldest and arguably wisest, he remembers a time before GPS, when real racers trusted their gyros and navigated by the stars. When it comes to racing, it boils down to two qualities, says Bulldog: good flying and sportsmanship. Period. While the competition secretly wonders if the aging plane is past his prime, he flies his way onto the leader board again and again, proving that this Bulldog has lost none of his bite."

So it seems there is no medium Diogo hasn't done, and done well, to boot.... obviously, with "The Bible" he mastered the miniseries... but we've also seen him excel at modeling, and we've seen him shine in theater.

He's does too many TV series to mention here, but they include an Emmy award winning drama AND sketch comedy.

He's done movies too -- from short films to a full-length bio pic as the former president of Portugal.    And let's not forget his work as a filmmaker behind the scenes.  Diogo even provided the voice of a character for a "Harry Potter" video game.  

But for today's "Clip of the Day," I wanted to share something else Diogo has done... commercials.  Specifically, two commercials he did for two very different products.... technology and cat food.  :)

First up, here's a commercial he did with Daniel Olivera (from "Alta Definição") for "ZON Fibra" (an internet/cable provider.)  Even without a translation, I bet some of you will still being saying, "where do I sign up?" :)

This is the Voice!!!

Okay, forgive the cheesy title please, I am actually watching "The Voice" as I type, hee.  But, bear with me, as this post is actually about Diogo's voice -- as in, did you know he was one of the voices in a Playstation 3 game released in Portugal last year?

"Wonderbook: Livro de Feitiços" ("Wonderbook: Book of Spells") was made in conjunction with author J.K. Rowling, of "Harry Potter" fame.  

Using the latest in augmented reality technology, the game allows the player to learn and use twenty of Hogwarts spells, by transforming the Playstation Move motion controller into a magic wand!  The stories come to life as the software displays digital content on the screen.

Diogo provides the voice of "Professor" in "Wonderbook," and you can see a great clip of him recording his part for the game by clicking on this link (courtesy Playstation Portugal's YouTube Channel):

Our own Portuguese "wizard," @MsLiliana, provided a translation of the lines in the game that Diogo says in the clip:

"Diogo: Let us hear a story about this witchcraft! Are you ready?!

The witchcraft of levitation was created in 1544 by the wizard Jarleth Hobart… who by mistake, thought he was finally successful, where all the other wizards have failed. He thought that he had learned to fly.

Awww yes!! After a passionate interpretation of the national Anthem, he jumped into the void!

In answer to the whistles, Hobart started vigorous swimming movements that did not have any effect!"

When "Wonderbook: Livro de Feitiços" was released in November 2012, Diogo tweeted that enjoyed making the game very much.  I think that definitely shows in the clip of him recording it.  :)
