Diogo Morgado on "Jornal da Uma" discussing "Ouro Verde"

TVI introduced the Cast of their upcoming series, "Ouro Verde," which Diogo will star in as "Zé Maria Magalhães/Jorge Monforte."  Diogo spoke to "Jornal da Uma" about the series and his character, and our amazing Dina sent us the interview, along with the translation below.

Diogo on Jornal da Uma

HOST: "Ouro Verde" takes place in Portugal and Brazil. It is a story of love and vengeance. Diogo Morgado, Luís Esparteiro, Paulo Pires, Rui Mendes lead this Cast that also includes big names from Brazilian television.
VOICE OVER: It was in the Reservatório da Mãe de Água in Lisbon where they presented the new big bet in original series by TVI. This is an ideal cast. Diogo Morgado is "Jorge Monforte," the center of the whole story.
Diogo Morgado: He begins as a very normal guy, with a normal life, an Agriculture student, has his family, is happy, may eventually have girlfriends, that's not what is important but he has a normal, happy life, and suddenly there's a tragedy, and he comes out of this tragedy and, with time, he becomes an entirely different person.
VOICE OVER: Love and revenge become the main ingredients of this fascinating story that is set in Portugal and Brazil.  (Obrigada Dina!)

"Ouro Verde" begins filming this week, and is set to premiere on TVI in January of 2017.  Here are some more pictures of Diogo and his castmates from the "Apresentação do Elenco de Ouro Verde."

Diogo on Cinebox talking about "Virados do Avesso"

(courtesy of A Raquel Karolyi Machado on FB)

Diogo was recently on TVI's show "Cinebox" discussing his upcoming film, "Virados do Avesso" ("Turned Inside Out.")  Once again, the incredible, amazing Dina translated the short be sweet interview for us, found right below the video.

Diogo on TVI's Cinebox

Voice Over/Host: Diogo Morgado is returning to Portuguese cinema.  “Virados do Avesso” is the film that shot in just three weeks. It was the possible thanks to a  break before returning to the United States, where the actor is filming a science fiction series, which by the way, is very different from this new project.
DM: João is an absolutely normal guy, with his life, his work, and  suddenly wakes up almost in someone else's life, despite it being his own life. Wakes up with his best friend for ten years, in bed, much to his surprise. He (João) asks "Carlos, what is this? We've been friends for ten years..." and he says "Yes, we've been friends for ten years, but boyfriends for five." And he is suddenly shocked. Does not realize what is happening. We only realize later, that he has amnesia and forgot that he was gay.
Voice Over: Behind the camera is Edgar Pêra, an unlikely choice to make a romantic comedy, but only in theory.
Edgar Pêra: You may think that I do not like romantic comedies, but it's a genre that I quite like. What I like in romantic comedies is that they are more than a comedy than a drama, but have the complexity of the two. The idea that someone loses memory of their sexual orientation, for that, it looks like a science fiction movie and then on the other hand, it's an opportunity to challenge the attitudes and roles that people are expecting. The expectations that people have with respect to each other.
Voice Over: Nicolau Breyner is one of the supporting actors, but not only.  He is also behind the scenes as a producer, with a very precise goal.
Nicolau BreynerI think what the Portuguese want is to laugh, which is normal. We are in a time of  crisis. It's a good time to resurrect the Portuguese comedy, to the liking of the Portuguese.
Voice Over: "Virados do Avesso" with Nicolau Breyner, Diogo Morgado, among many others, is scheduled to debut on November 20th.

Diogo in Disney's "Aviões" ("Planes")

How cool is this?  Diogo will be the voice of one the characters in "Aviões," the Portuguese version of the upcoming Disney film, "Planes." Specifically, Diogo will be the voice of the character/plane, "Bulldog":

According to the "Planes" official cast descriptions, "Bulldog" (who will be voiced by John Cleese in the US version of the film) "has been racing longer than every other racer on the circuit. As the oldest and arguably wisest, he remembers a time before GPS, when real racers trusted their gyros and navigated by the stars. When it comes to racing, it boils down to two qualities, says Bulldog: good flying and sportsmanship. Period. While the competition secretly wonders if the aging plane is past his prime, he flies his way onto the leader board again and again, proving that this Bulldog has lost none of his bite."
