Tonight, Diogo attended the "XVIII Gala dos Globos de Ouro," Portugal's Golden Globe Awards, where he and his "Laços de Sangue" co-star, Joana Santos, presented the award for "Best Actress in a Film."
You can click on the link below to see a clip of Diogo and Joana presenting, courtesy of SIC. Our amazing friend Lou da Gama was VERY kind in quickly translating this for us, which you can find below the link.

Joana: A good evening to everyone!
Diogo: Good evening!
Joana: Diogo!
Diogo: (coughs)
Joana: Hollywood liked you. And you? Did you like Hollywood?
Diogo: I liked it so much that I even lost my voice. Good evening everyone! I liked it. I liked it. I like it a lot obviously! But I like it even more to be here, on a night that rewards Portugal. I think that's the most important. And I feel very happy and proud to know that Portuguese understand that Portugal has value to shake up the world, and that it's about time this "poor thing" state of mind ends. Don't you think?
(He looks at Joana)

Diogo: Joana this... what's that, Joana?
Joana: No, nothing... nothing...nothing .... Hot Je....
(Diogo interrupts)
Diogo: Jo... Joana!!! Not you!!! Okay!? Please! Thank you!
Joana:... all right...
Diogo: Let's stop with these things... please... come on. What brought us here tonight was... To reward... to reward things... and this time... Portuguese cinema. In particular, four exceptional actresses...
Joana: Four actresses with diverse career paths and from different generations but with something in common -- talent.
Diogo: Their surrender is absolute. It was easy to feel engaged by their lives, by the lives of their characters.
Joana: the nominees for the Globo de Ouro for best actress are..."

ReplyDeleteOkay please don't make me give my Diogo fan club card back, but when he coughed and cleared his throat in the clip, all I could think about was the Brady Bunch episode when Peter's voice changed and kept cracking. Hehe. I still love Diogo though and hope he feels better soon! Thank you for this post Sara and Lou! You make Diogo fans so happy.
